The European Union is now seeking to answer these and more questions with the Digital Markets Act and Digital Services Act legislative package.

For businesses and citizens, the European Commission's initiatives could offer an opportunity to put a stop to the market power and broad influence of the major online gatekeepers. But will the laws ultimately succeed in bringing about freer competition and greater accountability?
