rooftop.talk 20: Hate on the Net

A package of laws against hate on the net recently passed the Austrian National Council and will largely – with a few special provisions – enter into force on 1 January 2021. In the course of the review process, more than 200 comments were received, including one from Facebook. The original draft legislation was amended slightly. All in all, significant changes were made that will provide additional assistance for victims and make large platform operators more accountable.

On this occasion – as already announced – we are also dedicating the next rooftop.talk in our media law series to the topic of "Hate on the Net" and will be highlighting this extensive new legislative package together with Federal Minister Karoline Edtstadler next Thursday, 17.12.2020. This time, the live broadcast will take place directly from the Austrian Federal Chancellery.

Panelists are:

Host:

Lisa Stadler (no relation to Arthur Stadler), DerStandard

We will start the live stream on 17.12.2020 at 15.00 (duration approx. 60-80 minutes) and look forward to an exciting discussion!
