The European Court of Justice has recently ruled on a long-standing legal dispute in Germany over means of communication in distance selling. In its judgment, the Court clarified the uncertainty arising from the wording of the Consumer Rights Directive in Amazon's favour. According to this ruling, Amazon and other online merchants are not obliged in every case to provide the consumer with a telephone number or an email address.
