The EU is further pursuing its "Digital Single Market Strategy"! This time by adapting warranty law to the new challenges of digitalisation. In the future, the "digital content" (e.g. operating system or pre-installed apps) of smart devices will be increasingly taken into account. Computer programs and apps that are sold independently also receive a new warranty regime. The seller is furthermore obliged to provide necessary updates for a certain period of time. Another noticeable change is the extension of the reversal of the burden of proof in favour of the consumer from six months to one year.
